Some basic cooking instructions for beef tenderloin are as follows:

For roasts that are two to three pounds, roast at 425 degrees F for about 40 minutes for medium rare and 50 minutes for medium. For tenderloin roasts that are 4 to 5 pounds roast 60 minutes for medium rare and 70 minutes for medium. Its best to use a meat thermometer. For medium rare this would be 135 degrees and for medium it is 150 degrees. Let stand 15 minutes before slicing.
